Practice gratitude in all aspects of your life, and you will always feel abundant.

I grew up watching my parents pray, so I started praying very young. I remember always asking God for good grades, gifts, etc.

I was 20-21 when I changed my approach because my approach to asking things was not working. I realized I was asking things from a scarcity mindset, which never led to things happening in my favor.

I switched to a gratitude mindset and started thanking God for what he had already provided me—good parents, health, education, etc.

When I switched to this gratitude or, I believe, abundance mindset, something changed, and I felt content with my life. I was happy with the way things were. It did not mean that I let go of my ambitions; I still pursued goals, ambitions, and things in life; it's just that I stopped asking for things in life, and life got so much better.

Here are three reasons why gratitude is essential -

1) Changes perspective and makes us happier -

Instead of focusing on things we don't have and creating a negative mindset, gratitude helps us focus on things we have and create a positive mindset. It adds to our overall well-being and makes us happier.

2) Source of motivation for yourself and others-

Gratitude is not only a great source of motivation for yourself. It is also a great source of motivation for others in personal and professional relationships. Thanking people for their efforts helps motivate them to do more from a place of energy.

As a new manager, I always asked my team members to do things - completing work deliverables, doing research, etc.- because that's how I saw it around me. I had to get work done within a timeline successfully. I did communicate my appreciation after the completion of milestones, but until then, I focused on tasks and not people.

Once I started thanking team members more frequently, I saw them motivated even in stressful situations. They knew now that I appreciated them and their work and had their backs when things went wrong.

This small change reduced a lot of stress for them and created a very amicable environment.

People who are thanked before the task reported greater feelings of social worth. I have exceeded expectations working with leaders who showed gratitude for my work.

3) Improved family and social relationships -

When was the last time you thanked your parents or your partner? After so many years with them, have you taken them for granted? Always thank people in your life for small things. First, it will bring a smile to their face, and second, it will fill your heart with love.

Build a gratitude practice in all aspects of your life, and you will always feel abundant.
