Finding your purpose should be the most critical project in your life. If you are not creating a life around your purpose, you are not truly living.
You must be thinking, why do I need to find my purpose? How will my life change if I find my purpose?
If you fall in any of the categories listed below, then you will benefit a lot just pursuing finding your purpose in the least–
You have a dream, but the day to take action to achieve your dreams never comes.
Life is burdened by stress, which never seems to go away as you resolve one stressor to be addressed with a different stressor.
You live in constant fear of things going wrong and are not sure what to do next.
You are chasing your dreams, accomplishing one thing after another, but still not feeling fulfilled.
You get excited about starting new things but drop these things as you get bored.
Most of the time, people do not know their purpose or if they need to find it. You will never move forward if you do not have a clear path forward. You will live as things happen to you rather than creating the life you want. Sitting around or waiting will not help you find it; you must take action, explore options, and be open to new opportunities.
- Purpose is personal to you, not something that someone else wants from you.
- Purpose is like the north star that guides you through life and helps you get through difficult times in your life
- Purpose helps you get over failures quickly
- Purpose helps you to see the big vision and not get drowned in day-to-day worries
Of all the different ways people chase happiness, living your life guided by your purpose is the most efficient way to be happy.
Below are the steps you can take to start a journey towards finding your passion -
Step 1 - Assessment of your Values – The first step I take when coaching individuals is introducing them to a "Values assessment."
What are your top 5 values?
What are the different ways that you are living these values?
What opportunities do you have to express these values?
How will it make you feel if you live these values every day?
How do you feel in situations where your values are attacked?
How do you feel in situations where your values are encouraged?
You can find more on this topic at this link - https://www.growhealthymind.com/post/values-assessment-aligning-values-with-external-goals
Step 2—Finding your Passion—Passion is something you can do all day without complaining and feel energized about. However, for you to truly enjoy it, your passion needs to align with your values.
What energizes you where you find yourself losing track of time?
What would you do all day, even if you were not paid to do it?
What causes and experiences excite you?
What values are you honoring when you are following your passion?
How can I effectively align my passion with my values?
Step 3 – Finding your Strengths –
Natural Strengths are what you are naturally good at, whereas there are some skills that you learn to get good at something.
What are your top strengths? You can do the basic Gallup Strengths assessment for only $24.99 at https://store.gallup.com/p/en-us/10108/cliftonstrengths-top-5?c=1
How are you applying these strengths in your current job?
What are the skills that you want to build?
Step 4 – Find the Problem – You find your purpose when you find a problem that needs to be solved in the world. It should be something you have lived and want to help others overcome.
What is just wrong in your circle of influence?
What problem have you overcome that you see others struggling with?
How can you be of service to others by solving this problem?
What steps can I take to identify a problem that resonates with me and work towards solving it?
How will your values, skills and strengths will help solve this problem?
Highly aware people know that happiness comes from serving others and helping their communities solve problems.
To find our purpose, we need to put our passion and strengths to work and solve different problems to find the one that closely resonates with us. It might take 5-10 years, but you will get there, and once you see it, you will find the true meaning of your life. One important point to note here is your purpose will not necessarily earn you money but will give you so much positive energy that it will spill into all areas of your life, giving you happiness and true fulfillment.
